competition.

FedEx Express and Junior Achievement cordially invite your students to the FedEx Express / Junior
Achievement International Trade Challenge.

The FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (ITC) is an unparalleled opportunity to
broaden students’ understanding of global trade and to participate in an array of stimulating activities to
enhance their knowledge of product distribution, competition, pricing, promotion and sales.
Simultaneously, this experience will promote the enduring qualities of teamwork, risk-taking and self-
confidence.

The ITC is a competition on Market Entry Strategy. To prepare for the Market Entry Strategy, the
students are required to research and synthesize detailed information related to a specific country to gain
a greater understanding of international trade. The exercise stresses the elements of teamwork,
competition, marketing, promotion and innovation, and it requires the students to develop a clearly
written international marketing plan for a specific country that includes:

.
Product development
.
A solid understanding of international trade and marketing
.
Detailed research on a country
.
Analysis of physical boundaries and challenges
.
Defined target market
.
Defined market competition
.
Analysis of transportation systems for distribution
.
Establish timeframe for implementation
.
Establish short term and long term goals

As students prepare to create the distribution and logistical elements of their proposals, they will be
encouraged to conduct on-line research on the international trade operations of a variety of businesses
including FedEx.

International Trade Challenge Workshop

The competition will require students to create a comprehensive Market Entry Strategy plan and develop
a well-written proposal for judging by local experts/volunteers. To ensure all the students are equipped
to prepare their Market Entry Strategy plan, all student entrants for the ITC are required to attend a one-
day ITC Workshop on Saturday 5th June 2010 where market entry strategy tips and the above
international marketing plan criteria are covered. The workshop will be held at NTUC Centre, Seminar
Room 801, One Marina Boulevard (Raffles Place MRT).

Singapore International Trade Challenge

After the workshop, student entrants (2 per team) will have 4 weeks to complete their Market Entry
Strategy Plan where 6 finalist teams will be chosen to present their plans at the Singapore International
Trade Challenge Finals to be held on Saturday 7th August 2010. From there, 3 final winning teams will
be selected to represent Singapore at the Asia Pacific International Trade Challenge in Singapore, to be
held on 22nd – 25th August, 2010.

Asia Pacific International Trade Challenge

The Asia Pacific International Trade Challenge will require the students to develop a specific product and
create an original international marketing plan for a designated country. The students will develop a
PowerPoint presentation, an advertisement for the product, and make a formal presentation to a panel of
judges.

Eight countries will be represented in this competition. The participants at the Asia Pacific International
Trade Challenge in Singapore will have the opportunity to gain invaluable information, insights and
learnings from Senior FedEx executives and expert advice from FedEx program facilitators. The
experience will reinforce the knowledge gained and will advance the students’ critical thinking skills,
comprehension of international trade and command of the lessons learned.

Scoring Rubric

A scoring rubric will be utilized for the evaluation and judging of student proposals and presentations for
both the Singapore and Asia Pacific International Trade Challenges. This will be shared with the
students at the workshop.

Perks and Prizes

All students who sent in qualified entries will receive a certificate of participation. Certificate of merit will
be awarded to the six shortlisted teams and a SGD 300 book voucher and a plaque will be awarded to
the three final teams (SGD 150/student).

The Asia Pacific International Trade Challenge winning prizes are:

1st Prize – USD 2,000/student

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... this is contradicting. yes i wan but no i dun wan kind. this one classmate came up to me and said, " wan join? i wan form a team with you!" i was lik, "har?" im honoured by the fact that u appreciate my skills and knowledge. but.. forming a team of TWO? me n you? a bit difficult ah. it's a GREAT opportunity, once in a life time in fact. how long can u stay below the age of 19? i'm 18 now.

i know taking part is not about winning, it's the experience that counts. but tell me, who dun wanna win?! i dun wish that, by the end of the day, one of us appear to be dragging down the other one. now that u've invited me to take part w u, it's tough to say NO. seriously, i dunno which part of ur eyes is blind to team up w me. i mean, in my heart, i know i'm not capable in doing this. there are better choices in the class. there's this 2 genius-sent-by-god-to-DIB03, i sincerly hope that they will participte in this competition. cos i know they had the ability to do well and maybe make it into the finals.

how how how?!
i think not ba.
